GOALTENDER DEVELOPMENT |
Our goaltending program developed by Scott Murray has quickly become the largest year round goaltending program in Northern Ontario. This program continues to incorporate the most comprehensive and modern approach to the position. This approach is studied and modified constantly to bring the most up to date teaching in our on-ice training, off-ice training as well as our theoretical teaching of the position. Our comprehensive approach will not only transform goalies into elite present day goaltenders, but also provide them with a deep understanding of the position and how it has evolved, therefore giving them the tools to be leaders in their own development.

Scott brings a system, work ethic and passion for the development of young goaltenders that guarantees results. The quality and commitment that Scott implements into the coaching and the development of every program is second to none. After a successful playing career as a goaltender that included NCAA Division 1 College Hockey, as well as Professional Hockey, Scott has dedicated himself to the development of goaltenders in Northern Ontario. Scott is currently goaltender coach of the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves, and throughout his coaching career Scott has worked with numerous goaltenders from the NHL to pre-novice.
“It is my goal to provide the most comprehensive and progressive goaltender training possible. Our programs are set up to provide knowledge, success, passion, fun and excitement to every goaltender that we work with.”

Juha Lehtola is one of RHP’s Finnish instructors, specializing in Goalie Training. He has completed his internship with RHP for his degree in Sports and Leisure Management and Hockey Coaching at the Finnish National Sports Institute. Upon completion of his Thesis, he will be a certified IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) Level 5 Coach- the highest category recognized by the IIHF. While completing his studies, he took part in the IIHF International Youth Coaching Symposium during the World Championships in 2011 and has been asked to be a part of the organizing committee for the 2012 World Championships this May.
Juha played 15 years as a goalie and excelled in that position. He was chosen for his birth year’s U-16 National Team training camp. After playing 1 year of professional hockey in Finland, Juha studied abroad in the US where he decided to focus on coaching. He is now in his 5th year of coaching and is the video coach and assistant goalie coach with the Sudbury Wolves OHL team.
Juha’s inspiration for coaching came from the coaches that he had as a player. His approach to training goalies is to understand each player as an individual and from learning their opinions and thoughts on the game he is able to then develop a training program that will help the player reach their goals. He really brings“out of the box” thinking to goalie training!
"There are hundreds of skilled goalies out there who could play in the NHL right now, but those whose work ethic is extremely high and whose mental ability to perform well under pressure in game situation, are the ones playing there!"
