This program is designed for players who are looking to improve stickhandling, shooting, and goal scoring. For the stickhandling portion of the camp our RHP instructors will look at skating for stickhandling, preparation for proper technique, agility techniques, fakes and dekes, as well as advanced moves, tactics, and small area games that will develop vision as well as time and space awareness. The shooting portion of the camp will teach players the proper shooting techniques from stationary position to under pressure game situations. Finally, we will look at the art of goal scoring. Players will be taught helpful hints from a player and goaltender point of view which will help take their goal scoring to the next level. They will be taught when, where and how to shoot to score and goaltenders’ tendencies will be revealed. They will also be taught how to use vision, awareness, and the ability to create time and space with and without the puck to get themselves into quality scoring areas. Also, the ability to shoot before you are supposed to, and after you are supposed to, will be worked on daily. These stickhandling, shooting, and scoring skills will be incorporated into game situations such as breakaways, team play and 3 on 3 scrimmages. Skating technique will be reinforced with the BLADE Skating Treadmill, which is bar none the best tool in the world for teaching skating mechanics. Hockey specific training including balance, power, flexibility, hand and foot-eye co-ordination, agility, speed, strength, and aerobic/anaerobic capacity will be a part of the off-ice program.

This program will follow a logical progression from the most basic to the most complex and difficult aspects of checking. This is a very comprehensive and detailed program that will go over all aspects of checking. Our RHP Instructors will focus on skating for checking and will include mirror drills, lateral agility, gap control skating, steering and angling skating, pressure and contain skating, as well as pivoting drills. They will also focus on the use of the stick when it comes to checking, avoiding checks with and without the puck, along with touching on positioning for checking. Instructors will also teach how to take away time and space, gap control, deflecting, steering, angling and decision making with pressure or containing. Contact confidence and avoiding checks will also be a focus in this camp. Finally, taking and receiving checks, the use of body checks to regain control of the puck, and avoiding checks and dangerous situations will also be focused on in this camp. This camp will also look at team defence and the role of defending away from the puck.

A world-class figure skater, former Russian National Team member and current NHL skating instructor for the Minnesota Wild, Sergei Tartykov will bring his extensive professional experience as a skating specialist to RHP Training Centre to help the players of the North improve their on-ice agility and develop the technical skating abilities like no other. Tartykov currently holds the position of head skating coach for the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild, a position he has held for the past seven seasons. Tartykov joined the Minnesota Wild in 2002. A former member of the Russian National Team, Tartykov has implemented several power skating programs into Minnesota's training program. Here is a testimonial from Andrew Brunette on Sergey Tartykov coming in this year to help out the coaches of the NOHA.

“I think it is a great idea to bring Sergei in to help with the NOHA. I believe it is long overdue and anything that could help our players develop into better skaters I am all for. On a personal level I wish that kind of help could have been available when I was younger, something that would have helped me tremendously.”

This camp is for Pro, NCAA, OHL, Jr., Midget, Bantam, Peewee, Atom and Novice AAA, AA, A, and Houseleague Players. Skating technique will be further reinforced with the BLADE Skating Treadmill, which is bar none the best tool in the world for teaching skating mechanics. As ringette players we need to increase our individual technical and tactical skills every time we step on the ice. The Ringette Camp will focus closely on both of these areas. Technically, players’ skating, shooting, passing, stickhandling/ring control and checking will be enhanced throughout this camp. Tactically players will develop a deep understanding and ability to fight for and create time and space individually as well as in small groups. The goaltender’s program will be second to none for this program. Goaltender’s movement, positional efficiency, save execution, and post-save responses will be brought to an elevated level.  Students will develop reading skills, improving their shot preparation and post save efficiency, leading to increased consistency. Take care of your skating needs. We all know how important skating is. Let the "Blade" develop your skating and help maintain a longer, more powerful and explosive skating stride.  You will get the opportunity to focus strictly on your skating mechanics and the muscles required to become a faster more efficient skater.

This program is all about getting both the body and mind back into shape in time for try-outs. Pucks, skills development, flow drills and conditioning, as well as 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 scrimmages at the end of each session. Our goal is to simulate real try-out conditions, where every inch of performance is watched and work ethic is rewarded! Player development in this group is focused around both the returning AA or A player and the first-timer that wants to make that Rep team. Groups within the week are divided accordingly to the level of skill and each group is pushed hard to the limit of their ability and conditioning…the goal to improve both. Athletes are expected to possess strong skating ability.
